Meet the Master Builders

Our mentors are seasoned homeschoolers with 10, 15, or even 20+ years of experience, ready to walk alongside you with grace, wisdom, and practical help.

Cori Dean

Cori Dean is a wife, a mom, a teacher, a writer and publisher, and book addict. She and her husband, Mark, have graduated three students from their exclusive all-girls school and have one teenager left at home. Cori enjoys speaking to homeschoolers coast to coast and is the author or editor of several publications including, Working Together: Teamwork Starts at Home Base. The Deans live in Bradford, Ontario where they own and run The Learning House, Canada’s premier homeschool resource provider and publishing house. They are also in full-time ministry with The Shop Vehicle Donation Program, a program of Youth for Christ. Cori loves long days of bicycling as well as camping and boating with the family or mucking in the garden and thinks there’s nothing better than a good book, some dark chocolate, and a cup of tea.

Sarina Steward

With 20 years of homeschooling under her belt, the years have been full of mentoring her children, family life, music, and ministry.  Sarina has spent the last 20 years supporting and building relationships in local homeschool groups while teaching large groups of children anything from music and academic subjects to the art of walking on eggs. She has studied learning methodologies and learning styles in the context of music education and leads a music studio. With three of her five children out of high school and on to post secondary, and other pursuits, Sarina has enjoyed working at The Learning House over the last few years.   Since each child is unique, she has delved into a wide range of curriculums over the years and loves to use her experience to encourage and support others in their journey.  Sarina loves jamming, cozying up with her kids while enjoying a great book, hiking, camping, and winding down with some herbal tea and some knitting.

Terri Ann Gaynik

Terri Ann Gaynik is a wife, mother of four, and educator.  After completing degrees in both Kinesiology and Education, she pursued the field of special education.  She has taught in a variety of settings including: public education, home schooling and ladies bible conferences.  Her passion is helping others see the good design in educational diversity, and helping children experience a love for learning. In her spare time she loves reading historical fiction, gardening, cycling, and a good conversation over a cup of coffee.

Jacki Young

After earning a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and beginning a career in finance, Jacki and her husband, Brian, chose to homeschool their children. She quickly fell in love with the flexibility of homeschooling and the beauty of the Charlotte Mason philosophy. Using the AmblesideOnline curriculum, she led both her children through the elementary years, and one through grade 11, successfully transitioning them to success in university and high school. She now continues mentoring homeschooling parents who come to her for advice, tutoring math, and leading nature walks for families interested in learning about the outdoors. She loves watching children explore, grow, and fulfill their God-given purposes. A lifelong learner and nature enthusiast, she spends her free time reading, hiking, and trying new recipes.
