Heritage Studies 1: Family & Community Online with Books

Introduce children to early social studies skills with Mrs. Lawson, the Heritage Kids, and a variety of games and engaging activities. Every lesson will include a lively introduction to the lesson, followed by reading with Mrs. Lawson, and teaching segments that make learning fun. Mrs. Lawson will encourage children to follow along in their textbooks, but they do not need to be able to read or be confident readers to begin this course, as she will often read aloud for the lesson.

Special features:

• Heritage Kids – A special-segment series in which characters from the textbook participate in scenarios that illustrate topics.
• Who? What? When? – A special-segment series that introduces famous people.
• Pop in with Lewis – A special-segment series with Lewis the lion that gives background information, videos, and pictures to help children explore different topics.

This is a 90-day (one-semester) course intended to be combined with Science. The Heritage Studies 1 / Science 1 Combo option has a special two-for-one price. We recommend beginning the year with Heritage Studies and ending with Science. See combined course for full course details.
