The Mounties – Discovering Canada Series

While America’s “wild west” was overrun by outlaws, Canada’s Northwest Territories were patrolled by the North-West Mounted Police. Established by John A. Macdonald, the Mounties maintained order and ensured fair and peaceful dealins with the first Nations people. Young readers will discover the Mounties’ importance in protecting Canadian prairie and northern regions. They will also learn about the development of boom towns around the gold rush and railway; the achievements of heroes like Jerry Potts and Sam Steele; and the Mounties’ evolving role through the years.
