This activity book explores the way of life of three pioneer societies in Canada. The fist section introduces the early settlers from France who established farms in New France. The second section follows the Loyalist pioneers who left the United States to settle in Upper Canada. The last section describes the homesteaders who came to western Canada for free farmland.
Each section examines pioneer homes and furnishings, food and clothing, as well as travel, sports and recreation.
The detailed drawings and simple text help the students understand the challenges of settling a new land and help them compare their own lifestyle with the way of life of these early pioneers who helped build Canada.
