Taming the Techno-Beast Student Workbook

We've come a long way since the days of Pong. In fact, our society has entered a world of virtual reality. We play video games that look so real, it's hard to believe they aren't. We have thousands of ''friends'' that we don't know. We share pictures and information about ourselves with total strangers. We devote hours of our time to pretend families, farms, and games. We beep, text, and post our way through most of our days, rarely stopping to assess whether it's all for the best.

Is this age of hyper-technology beneficial or is it possible that some aspects of it are harmful? Have you ever taken a step back from it long enough to consider that question? Do you feel like your parents are on you about the amount of time you spend on your phone? On video games? On Facebook? Do you sometimes feel distracted by it, exhausted by it, or pulled by it? The truth is that the Bible has something to say about all this technology.

This workbook will help you (and your parents) take a look at what God says about the various areas of technology. It will not, however, give you a list of do's and don'ts. Join us as we glance at the history of technology and how it has evolved. Learn why we (guys and gals) are so intrigued by technology and discuss what happens if we don't learn to control our usage of it. We will evaluate our current consumption of technology and set some standards to help guide us. By the time we're finished with this study, we will have learned how to control the ''Techno-Beast'' instead of allowing it to control us.
