With Book 6, the recommended schedule is four days per week. For the fifth day, a hands-on geometry lesson should be completed from Charlotte Mason Practical Geometry, Part 2. These weekly geometry lessons give the student experience with mathematical tools such as a compass and protractor, and guide the student in understanding foundational ideas in geometry. This hands-on approach develops the student’s comfort with the mechanics of tools, drawings, and geometrical concepts before formal geometry and proofs are introduced. The publisher suggests that 6th grade students work on arithmetic Monday through Thursday, with Friday reserved for practical geometry.
