Building Spelling Skills Book 4

The phonics principles presented in this workbook instruct children how to spell words with suffixes “-tion” and “-ion,” silent “e” words, word endings, spelling the three sounds of “wh” and “ch,” consonant digraphs with “f” and “ph,” prefixes, compound words, and irregular spellings. The names of time and measurement and use of the apostrophe are also covered.

Vocabulary-building is emphasized through contextual exercises; word-bank, crossword, fill-in-the-blank, and other exercises are included to help students gain familiarity with how words and sentences are constructed.

Test sheets are included at the back of the book. With 36 units and 5 lessons per unit, the text is designed to be used daily over a 36 week period.
